African Unicorn Flutterwave Joins Forces with Microsoft to Build Next-Gen Payments Platform on Azure.

Flutterwave, the prominent African fintech unicorn, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Microsoft to develop its next-generation payments platform on Microsoft Azure. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the payments infrastructure in Africa and beyond, catering to the accelerated growth of transactions processed on the Flutterwave platform for global clients such as Uber, Netflix, and Microsoft itself.

In a statement released by Flutterwave, the company expressed its confidence in Azure's ability to provide a seamless, reliable, and secure payment experience for its users. The Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, acknowledged Microsoft as an invaluable partner, highlighting the platform's role in consistently delivering high-quality services to their clients. Agboola emphasized the critical importance of Azure's robustness, reliability, and scalability in managing high-volume payment processing, especially during peak periods.

The partnership with Microsoft Azure will not only support the growth of Flutterwave but also enable the company to scale its products and expand its merchant network worldwide. Gurbhej Dhillon, Flutterwave's CTO, emphasized the significant leverage that Microsoft Azure provides for developers, which will enhance the company's ability to serve its clients effectively.

Several key Flutterwave products, including Flutterwave for Business, Send by Flutterwave, Flutterwave Store, and Flutterwave for Fintech Platform, are currently being developed and transitioned to the powerful Azure cloud platform. Additionally, Flutterwave leverages Azure OpenAI Service capabilities to scale its product offerings to millions of merchants globally.

Microsoft Corporation's General Manager, Mike Gaal, expressed excitement about fueling Flutterwave's growth and innovations through the partnership. Gaal stated that Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more, and working with Flutterwave brings them closer to fulfilling that mission in Africa.

Azure's comprehensive suite of services provides a strong foundation for Flutterwave's payments platform. It offers secure and reliable cloud infrastructure for payment applications and services, with features like auto-scaling for handling high transaction volumes during peak times. Azure also provides robust data storage and management options, ensuring low latency and high availability.

Security and compliance are critical for payment platforms, and Azure offers advanced security features such as encryption, identity and access management (IAM), network security groups (NSGs), and the Azure Security Center for data protection and compliance with PCI DSS regulations.

Azure's analytics and machine learning services enable Flutterwave to gain valuable data insights, leveraging predictive models, data lake analytics, and business intelligence tools. The platform also facilitates seamless integration with external systems, payment gateways, and third-party services through its integration services like Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, and API Management.

With Azure's global presence and disaster recovery capabilities, Flutterwave can ensure high availability and data redundancy, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity. Furthermore, Azure's additional features, such as Payment of HSM for securing cryptographic keys, Azure Bot Service for creating chatbots for payments, and Azure Cognitive Services for fraud detection and risk assessment, further enhance the capabilities of Flutterwave's payment processing.

The partnership between Flutterwave and Microsoft marks a significant step towards transforming the payments landscape in Africa. By harnessing the power of Microsoft Azure, Flutterwave aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions that will benefit millions of merchants worldwide and propel the growth of digital payments in Africa and beyond.
