Bolt, Africa's leading ride-hailing platform, celebrated the successful conclusion of its Bolt Accelerator Program, an initiative designed to empower its driver community and contribute to Nigeria's economic growth. Partnering with The Nest Innovation Park, the program nurtured innovative business ideas from drivers, paving their way to become entrepreneurs and redefine their roles within the mobility ecosystem.

Launched in September 2023, the program attracted numerous applications from drivers across diverse Nigerian states. Following a rigorous selection process, the top 10 most promising business ideas emerged, each addressing different aspects of the mobility sector.

A virtual graduation ceremony on January 19, 2024, marked the culmination of the program. Each winner received a €2,000 seed fund and participated in a 6-week mentorship phase through the "Bolt Den" initiative. This intensive program equipped them with essential skills and knowledge to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape.

The Bolt Accelerator Program aligns with Bolt's vision of fostering innovation and shared mobility in Africa. Recent analysis reveals that the African shared mobility market is poised for exponential growth, creating significant economic and social benefits. This initiative demonstrates Bolt's commitment to contributing to this development while empowering individuals within its driver community.

Participants' voices:

  • Arinze Emmanuel (Abuja): "The mentorship phase equipped me to tackle security issues with my car-monitoring website."

  • David Uviowho (Port-Harcourt): "This program made my efficient bike delivery business a reality. I'm grateful for the knowledge gained."

  • Jennifer Modinatu (Lagos): "I encourage women to join initiatives like this. My car-for-hire business promotes female inclusion in ride-hailing."

  • Temitope Stephen (Lagos): "I'm excited to convert petrol vehicles to CNG with Raindom EnergyServices Ltd., thanks to the Oliver Wyman mentorship."

The Bolt Accelerator Program serves as a testament to the company's dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among its drivers. Bolt and The Nest Innovation Park stand united in supporting these future leaders, propelling them towards a bright future of growth and impact within the African mobility landscape.
