EBANX Hires Wiza Jalakasi to Boost Digital Economy and Payment Sector in Africa.

28 Apr 2023

EBANX, the Brazilian fintech company that provides payment solutions to connect Latin American customers with international businesses, has announced the appointment of Wiza Jalakasi as the new Director of Africa Market Development. Jalakasi, a former vice-president at Chipper Cash with 13 years of experience building tech startups in the B2B and B2C spaces, will assist in expanding and developing the fintech across the continent. In September 2022, EBANX announced its plans to expand its payment gateway solution and operations outside Latin America for the first time to Africa.

Jalakasi stated that he saw his new role as a tremendous opportunity to strengthen the reputation of the payments sector and the digital economy in Africa by supporting the connection of international players to a sizable market rife with opportunities. Paula Bellizia, President of Global Payments at EBANX, also commented that Jalakasi would play a key role in expanding the fintech’s footprint in Africa and the links between its worldwide merchants and African consumers by providing in-depth knowledge of his expertise about Africa’s thriving digital industry.

EBANX is a leading international payments platform that connects global companies with customers from the fastest-growing digital markets in the world. With powerful proprietary technology and infrastructure, combined with in-depth knowledge of the markets where it operates, EBANX enables global businesses to connect with hundreds of payment methods in different countries in Africa and Latin America. With Jalakasi's expertise in developing tech firms in the B2B and B2C sectors, EBANX can count on him to lead the creation and implementation of the company’s fintech solution strategies effectively. Jalakasi will manage and coach teams of payment experts, direct day-to-day operational functions by an engaged group of team members, and implement policies and processes to enhance day-to-day operations of the company across Africa.

Jalakasi also added that Latin America and Africa have a lot in common when it comes to payment fragmentation and digitization, and EBANX has the robust technology, integration capabilities, and global expertise in rising markets needed to tackle these challenges. He sees it as a special opportunity to be the partner of the largest merchants in the world in solving some of the challenges that he faces as a consumer in Africa and to influence how the world thinks about Africa.
