Gajo Livestock App Provides Direct Link between Farmers and Consumers to Promote Short Circuits.

15 Jun 2023

Gajo Livestock, a newly launched app in Cameroon, aims to revolutionize the livestock sector in Africa by providing a platform for organic and quality livestock products to be sold online. The app's founder and CEO, Ngassa D. Fotso, notes that the increasing use of technology in agriculture, climate change, and the spread of certain diseases are causing a decrease in the number of farmers.

Gajo Livestock guarantees the supply of the best quality products at an affordable price while supporting breeders to sell their products directly to consumers. The app seeks to eliminate intermediaries who take advantage of both breeders and consumers while promoting short circuits to establish a direct link between producers and consumers.

Fotso believes that the app will help address the challenges faced by breeders in the livestock sector, including the pressure on available land and resources due to rapid population growth in many African countries. The Gajo Livestock app will also assist consumers in avoiding being taken advantage of by unscrupulous dealers and marketers.

Despite facing challenges such as a major land dispute in 2018, which led to the loss of significant business premises, human capital, and other business assets, Gajo Livestock is committed to changing Africa's farming narratives. The app is focused on digitizing the livestock sector to support traditional professions and help breeders understand the different channels for selling their products.

Fotso believes that Africa needs to adjust to the digital context while preserving its traditions, and Gajo Livestock aims to contribute to this by disrupting the field and improving and supporting breeders.
