16 Jul 2024

Heifer International Nigeria is excited to announce the top five finalists of the AYuTe Africa Challenge Nigeria 2024. This enterprise development program aims to identify, nurture, and support innovative, technology-driven agricultural enterprises in Nigeria.

The AYuTe Africa Challenge, an initiative by Heifer International, harnesses the potential of youth, innovation, and entrepreneurship to address the challenges faced by smallholder farmers. Launched in 2021, this Africa-wide program has seen significant participation, with winning solutions making a real impact on smallholder farmers and transforming agriculture across the continent.

In 2024, Heifer International celebrates two significant milestones: 80 years of global support for smallholder farmers and 50 years of African operations. To commemorate these achievements, Heifer Nigeria is leveraging the AYuTe Challenge to inspire a new generation of agripreneurs and innovators across Africa, envisioning a forward-looking agricultural transformation for the coming decades.

Heifer International awards more than $1 million annually through the AYuTe regional competition to leading agritech innovators across Africa. National competitions are also held in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Senegal, and Uganda, offering tens of thousands of dollars in each country.

The grand finale of the 2024 AYuTe Nigeria Challenge will bring together young Nigerian innovators in the agriculture sector to pitch their ideas. The top performers will receive cash awards and technical support to scale their innovations. The event will attract a diverse audience, including government officials, representatives from the international development community, youth in agriculture, media, and prominent figures from the private sector.

Following a rigorous selection process, the finalists competing for the grand prize of up to $40,000 are:

  • Pysis Technology

  • Vet Connect

  • Kayan Gona Agro

  • Green Eden Farms

  • Scratop Africa
