IdentityTech Startup Seamfix Secures $4.5 Million for African Expansion.

26 May 2024

Seamfix, a Nigerian startup specializing in digital identity solutions, has secured a significant investment of $4.5 million from Alitheia IDF. This marks the company's first institutional funding round and fuels its expansion plans across Africa.

Founded in 2007, Seamfix has carved a niche in the identity verification and management space. The company's solutions address the widespread challenge of digital identity in Africa, where millions lack formal identification. Seamfix caters to a diverse clientele, including large organizations and governments, offering a range of services like identity verification, database access, and API integration.

“This investment is a major validation of our work,” said Chimezie Emewulu, CEO and co-founder of Seamfix. “We've processed over 500 million identities since our inception, and with this funding, we're poised to extend our reach beyond Nigeria's borders.”

Emewulu highlighted the company's strategic shift towards identity management solutions in 2015. This decision, driven by a project to combat exam fraud, recognized the critical need for robust identity verification across Africa.

Seamfix boasts a proven track record of collaboration. Partnerships with Nigeria's National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and leading telecom operators like MTN, Glo, and Airtel have been instrumental in registering millions of Nigerians for national ID numbers.

The $4.5 million investment empowers Seamfix to address the evolving identity landscape in Africa. The company's expansion into Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa signifies its commitment to providing secure and reliable identity solutions across the continent.
