iProcure Expands into Tanzania Through Partnership with Farm to Market Alliance

28 Apr 2024

The CEO of iProcure, Niraj Varia, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with FtMA, as it provides an opportunity to introduce their technology to an established network of agro-dealers. Established in 2013, iProcure has built a distribution infrastructure that directly connects major agricultural input suppliers with local agro-dealers through its proprietary technology system. By eliminating middlemen and offering technology-driven insights on supply and prices, iProcure ensures the availability, quality, and timely delivery of essential agricultural inputs at discounted rates.

FtMA supports a network of Farmer Service Centres (FSCs), which act as key service hubs. These FSCs provide access to demand-driven services such as quality inputs, weather and planting advisory information, affordable financing, storage solutions, and market connections. They guide producers' transition from surplus or surplus potential to commercial farming. Through the partnership between iProcure and FtMA, access to supplies and services will be improved for over 125,000 farmers in Tanzania.

As part of the deal, iProcure will deploy its supply-chain tracking technology and business management software solutions to 100 Tanzanian agro-dealers, enhancing their operational efficiency and supply traceability. Furthermore, by November 2023, iProcure plans to implement its solutions in 100 FtMA Farmer Service Centres.

Mads Lofvall, the managing director of FtMA, emphasized the organization's core goal of bridging the gap between service delivery and market access at the first and last mile. He stated that digitalizing the work of their Farmer Service Centres is crucial in achieving this objective. Lofvall expressed anticipation about the benefits this new partnership will bring to both the Farmer Service Centres and the farmers they serve.
