26 Apr 2024

SunCulture, a leading provider of solar-powered irrigation solutions and agricultural technology for smallholder farmers, has secured a significant investment of $27.5 million in its Series B funding round. This funding will fuel the company's growth, allowing it to expand its product offerings, enter new markets, and further develop its innovative platform.

SunCulture is a champion for smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. By combining climate-smart technology with financing solutions and a digital marketplace, they empower farmers to increase their food production. Their solar-powered water pumps and irrigation systems have been a game-changer, providing reliable water access, reducing labor costs, and boosting crop yields.

The funding round attracted a diverse range of prominent investors, including Reed Hastings (co-founder of Netflix), InfraCo Africa Limited, Acumen Fund, The Schmidt Family Foundation, and others. Existing investors like EDF Group, Equator, and the Acumen Resilience Agriculture Fund (ARAF) also participated.

"This is a pivotal moment for SunCulture, our team, and the farmers we serve," said Samir Ibrahim, CEO and co-founder of SunCulture. "The investment is a true reflection of our team's hard work and unwavering dedication to our mission: making agriculture more profitable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly."

SunCulture is poised to significantly amplify its impact with this new funding. They plan to bring their life-changing technology to a wider range of smallholder farmers across the globe, empowering them to build more resilient and productive agricultural businesses.
