The Lagos State Government is poised to release AI guidelines, which will be the first in Nigeria, aimed at governing the deployment and management of artificial intelligence within the state. Lagos State Commissioner of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake, revealed that the guidelines would be unveiled in the coming weeks during an official event marking the launch of Dyna.Ai’s operations in Nigeria. According to him, it will be in line with the National AI strategy plan.
Alake emphasized that these guidelines are designed to ensure responsible AI development:
“They are not policies—they are guidelines to make sure that we are building products that we will be proud to let our children use and not try to protect them from.”
He further highlighted Lagos State’s commitment to fostering an environment where AI technology benefits society safely and ethically, promoting responsible innovation while managing associated risks.
Calling for collective responsibility, Alake pointed out that unchecked AI poses significant risks and could harm reputation if misused:
“Unchecked AI is not just risky, but also reputationally radioactive. The most enduring returns will come from value that aligns with the public good.”
Lagos aspires to become a hub for responsible AI development, ensuring that innovation serves the broader public interest and remains sustainable.
In a keynote address, Tokoni Peter Igoin, Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation, reinforced Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a secure and forward-thinking digital ecosystem.
“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is dedicated to responsible innovation—encouraging creativity, transparency, data protection, and digital security,” he stated.
Tomas Skoumal, Chairman and Co-President of Dyna.Ai, highlighted Nigeria’s strategic importance within Africa:
“For us, Nigeria is the obvious starting point. There is no bigger country in Africa—this is where the momentum is.”
He praised Africa’s rapid digital transformation driven by fintech and innovation, framing Nigeria as a vital hub for tech-driven financial inclusion and growth. Skoumal introduced Dyna.Ai’s cutting-edge Agentic AI solutions, including its proprietary Agent Studio and industry-specific language models, designed to enhance automation in customer service, marketing, collections, HR, and more.
The company’s long-term vision extends beyond product deployment. Skoumal emphasized their commitment to building local talent, creating jobs, and fostering infrastructure that supports sustainable technological growth across Nigeria and the wider region.
“We are not just here to sell a product—we want to build infrastructure, create local jobs, and scale innovation from Nigeria to Africa,” he affirmed.
