MTN South Africa launches game-changing uncapped wireless plans for home users.

29 Apr 2023

MTN South Africa has recently unveiled uncapped wireless plans that are designed to cater to the needs of home users who use the internet for various activities such as gaming, streaming, and working from home. The new plans are available at a starting price of R249 per month for the entry-level package, which is limited to 10 Mbps. The packages range from R249 per month to R999 per month between the entry-level and the Infinite plan.

MTN's new wireless plans are priced competitively and are comparable to uncapped fibre solution prices. These packages are available on both MTN's 4G/LTE and 5G networks but depend on coverage. The wireless plans can connect to either 5G or fixed LTE, but customers must have a 5G home router and be within 5G coverage to access them.

There are various tariff options for the packages, including the 10 Mbit/s Entry plan, which costs R249 per month; the 20 Mbit/s Pro plan, at R399 per month; the 35 Mbit/s Premium plan, at R499 per month; the 60 Mbit/s Ultra plan, at R699 per month; and the Unlimited plan, at R999 per month.

While some packages come with a free-to-use router on a month-to-month contract that can be canceled at any time without penalty fees, research on the products reveals that the packages appear to throttle down after a certain period or amount of data consumed.

For example, a 10 Mbit/s starter plan at

R249 is reduced to 2 Mbit/s after 100GB, a 20 Mbit/s pro plan:

R399/month is reduced to 5 Mbit/s after 300GB, a 35 Mbit/s

Premium plan: R499/month is reduced to 10 Mbit/s after 500GB.

The ultra-high-speed 60 Mbit/s plan for R699/month is reduced to 10Mbit/s after 800GB.

MTN's new packages are available both online and in-store at MTN outlets.
