Muslim Dating App Muzz Faces Legal Battle Against Tinder's Parent Company.

28 Apr 2023

Muzz, a popular Muslim dating app with more than 8 million users, is reportedly facing legal action from Match Group, the parent company of dating apps Tinder and Hinge. The lawsuit follows Muzz's rejection of a $35 million acquisition offer from Match Group.

In response to the legal action, Muzz CEO Shahzad Younas has taken to social media, alleging that Match Group has tried to purchase the company three times and is now attempting to shut it down. Younas has refused to sell the app, citing its importance to the Muslim community.

This is not the first time that Muzz and Match Group have clashed. Muzz has previously settled a lawsuit with Match Group over its use of the word "match" and a patented swiping gesture. According to Younas, Muzz has spent millions of dollars in legal fees, a significant amount for a company of its size.

Younas also claims that Match Group pursued the lawsuit to eliminate a major competitor in the Muslim dating app sector. Muzz has called on the UK Federal Trade Commission to investigate Match Group's anti-competitive behavior.
