Nigerian startups emerged as triumphant winners at the Global Startup Awards Africa (GSA Africa) Summit, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Four Nigerian startups, Awabah, Dataleum, Zuri Health, and Emergency Response Africa, took home awards in various categories, showcasing the country's burgeoning tech ecosystem.

Awabah, a financial services startup catering to Nigeria's informal sector, was recognized as the 'Best Newcomer.' Dataleum, a tech training and consulting firm, bagged the 'Best Edtech' award. Zuri Health, a virtual hospital platform, won the 'Future Shaper Award,' while Emergency Response Africa, a healthcare technology company providing medical care at emergency scenes, clinched the 'Best HealthTech' award.

These victories underscore the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial drive of Nigerian startups, which are increasingly making their mark on the global stage. The GSA Africa awards provide a platform for these startups to gain recognition and connect with potential investors and partners.

The GSA Africa initiative, launched in 2021, has attracted over 15,000 nominations from African innovators across 54 countries. The awards are supported by a network of 300 jury members, ambassadors, and innovation hubs across the continent.

This year's GSA Africa Summit was held in collaboration with the Global Innovation Initiative Group (GIIG), the Ethiopian Ministry of Labour and Skills (MOLS), the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT), and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Ethiopia.

The summit brought together stakeholders from across the African startup ecosystem to discuss challenges and opportunities, foster collaboration, and promote innovation. The event also featured workshops, networking sessions, and pitching opportunities for startups.

The GSA Africa awards are a testament to the growing momentum of the African startup ecosystem, which is rapidly gaining recognition for its potential to drive economic growth and social progress.
