OceanHub Africa (OHA), the renowned non-profit ocean-impact catalyst, has announced its fourth cohort of ocean-minded start-ups. These visionary ventures were meticulously chosen from a pool of 188 applications across 19 different African countries, presenting diverse solutions to pressing ocean-related challenges.

Empowering Women in Ocean Innovation: OHA proudly reveals that a substantial number of these pioneering ventures are led and owned by women, reflecting the organization's commitment to fostering gender diversity and inclusion in ocean entrepreneurship.

Let's explore the transformative solutions brought by the start-ups of OHA's fourth cohort:

  3. D-Olivette (Nigeria): Pioneering waste management and renewable energy solutions, D-Olivette converts household waste into clean energy, organic fertilizer, and reusable water using innovative Digesters and accessories.

  5. Sealife Organics Ltd (Mauritius): Sealife Organics utilizes seaweed and green waste to create affordable organic agricultural products, promoting eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices.
  6. Akili (South Africa): Taking on the challenge of plastic and e-waste, Akili repurposes components from broken laptops and transforms PET bottles into recycled 3D filament (rPET). Their approach promotes digital access and environmental sustainability.
  7. Healthy Seaweed Company (Tanzania): This start-up focuses on producing high-quality seaweed-based food products, aiming to increase local consumption and create markets for female seaweed farmers, empowering women in coastal communities.
  8. Tunisa Baits (Tunisia): Tunisa Baits introduces marine worms as an alternative and sustainable protein feed for aquaculture industries, reducing the ecological impact of traditional feed sources.

Comprehensive Support for Growth and Impact: OHA's accelerator team will provide comprehensive support to these selected start-ups over the next eight months.
