Snap to discontinue support for camera application on Mac and PC devices.

15 Jun 2023

Snap, the company behind Snapchat, has confirmed on its Twitter support website that the Snapchat camera app will be discontinued for Mac and PC on January 25, 2023.
In 2018, Snap Camera was released for usage by content producers in conjunction with popular video chat platforms including Skype, YouTube, Google Hangouts, Skype, and Zoom. The program, which worked on both Mac and Windows, lets users quickly and easily choose between many distinct facial filters while making or broadcasting a video conversation.

A firm camera app will "no longer be accessible to use or download" at the end of this month, the company has said.
The tech firm did note, though, that users may still access AR Snapchat lenses through the web app, which debuted in July.
Snap tweeted in response to a developer that it was "changing its web-based investments for the AR creator and developer communities to concentrate on growing access to the Camera Kit for the Web."
