Starlink, Elon Musk's broadband Internet service, has finally arrived in Nigeria.

15 Jun 2023

Elon Musk, a billionaire industrialist, has cut the monthly membership fee for his high-speed satellite internet service, Starlink, by almost half in order to get more customers in Nigeria.
When Musk revealed in July that Starlink would launch in Nigeria in August 2022, the monthly membership cost $99, while the gear cost $599 and delivery cost $60.

The website also revealed that when ordering a Starlink kit in Nigeria, buyers must now provide their National Identification Number.

American clients pay an extra $110 per month for their membership but just $599 for their device. Shipping costs $50 for buyers in the United States, but is now free for those in Nigeria.

Just recently, Prof. Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, said that SpaceX will begin deploying Starlink before the end of 2022.

Pantami announced during the US-Space Forum that the Nigerian government has authorized the company's application to become a High Throughput Satellite (HTS) Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Operator in the Nigerian Telecommunications Sector.
