According to TechCrunch, Uncover Skincare, a Kenyan firm that creates custom skin and beauty products for African women, has acquired $1 million in venture capital to grow its business in Kenya and extend into Nigeria.
In 2020, Sneha Mehta (CEO), Jade Oyateru (COO), and Catherine Lee (Advisor) created Uncover Skincare intending to disrupt the African skincare industry with data-led production tailored to the requirements of today's African women.

"We have had incredible traction since, and our community has grown from zero to about 60,000 women in Kenya in two years... "We have built brand awareness and loyalty, and our values of education, knowledge, and empowerment have been established in the market," Mehta added.
A new line of skin care items has been added to the company's web store, and in December, preparations were finalized for the company's January expansion into Nigeria. Recent years have been particularly fruitful for the Nigerian beauty industry, which has benefited from both the country's growing population and the expansion of contemporary retail.
The co-founder claims that the 20-fold increase in sales is due in large part to Uncover Skincare's virtual consultations and other forms of compelling content.
