Fifteen Nigerian Companies Named Finalists for Africa Tech Summit Awards

20 Feb 2025

Fifteen Nigerian tech companies have been recognized as finalists among 55 selected from across Africa for the inaugural Africa Tech Summit Awards, set to take place on February 13 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Organizers of the awards aim to honor businesses that are making significant contributions across various technology sectors, with winners to be unveiled during the Africa Tech Summit.

"We're thrilled to announce the finalists for the inaugural Africa Tech Summit Awards," stated Lauren Adair, Director of Africa Tech Summit, in a statement provided to Technology Times. "With over 300 entries, our judges faced the challenging task of narrowing the field down to just five finalists in each category. All finalists are playing vital roles in transforming their sectors and driving growth across the continent, and we eagerly anticipate celebrating their achievements in Nairobi next month."

The selection of finalists was based on criteria including innovation, impact, scalability, and relevance to the African market, according to the awards' organizers.

Nigerian companies excelled in multiple categories. In the agritech sector, AFEX and Winich Farms have secured finalist positions. AFEX operates a commodities exchange that connects farmers to markets and financing, thereby enhancing food security and agricultural trade. Winich Farms serves as an inventory organizer and supplier, providing a platform that directly links farmers with offtakers, reducing food waste and improving supply chain efficiency.

In the climate tech category, Instollar Technologies and Sabi have also been recognized. Instollar Technologies is a solar energy workforce provider that addresses Nigeria's electricity challenges, while Sabi is a business-to-business platform that facilitates the distribution of goods and services for informal traders.

These nominations highlight the growing influence of Nigerian tech companies in the African landscape, showcasing their commitment to innovation and sustainable development.
