Flutterwave, one of Africa's leading payment technology companies, has officially launched its remittance product, Send App, in Malawi. This move aims to streamline and reduce the cost of cross-border money transfers to the country, positioning Flutterwave as a key player in Africa's financial connectivity. The service allows customers to receive money transfers through both mobile and web platforms, providing favorable exchange rates and 24/7 in-app assistance. The app ensures data protection by utilizing the same high-security standards used across Flutterwave’s global operations. This launch follows Flutterwave's acquisition of an International Money Transfer Operators (IMTO) license from the Reserve Bank of Malawi, allowing residents and the Malawian diaspora in the UK, US, and Europe to send funds directly to any local bank. Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola emphasized the company's mission to offer value in essential areas like remittances, stating, "This marks the beginning of an exciting journey in Malawi. We’ll continue to innovate and expand Send App’s reach across Africa." Lumbani Gondwe, Flutterwave’s Country Manager in Malawi, highlighted plans to expand Send App’s capabilities, including support for Mobile Money and Cash Pickup services. Send App, relaunched in 2023, continues to strengthen ties between Africans abroad and their families at home. By expanding its presence in Malawi, Flutterwave is further solidifying its role as a trusted provider of cross-border payment solutions across the continent.
