Startbutton Expands into Seven Francophone Countries

26 Feb 2025

Startbutton, the Norrsken-backed startup that simplifies business expansion, has officially launched its services in Francophone Africa, marking a significant milestone in its growth strategy. The newly expanded operations cover seven key markets: Benin, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, and Cameroon. Through this expansion, Startbutton is helping businesses navigate new markets without the hassle of establishing physical offices or dealing with complex regulatory frameworks.

Francophone Africa presents a promising opportunity for startups. However, foreign enterprises often face challenges, particularly in managing payments. Many customers in the region prefer mobile money, while businesses frequently conduct transactions in foreign currencies. To tackle this issue head-on, Startbutton introduces its Direct Currency Converter (DCC), a unique solution that enables companies to price their services in euros or US dollars, while allowing customers to pay in their local currency. This innovation eliminates transaction barriers and reduces the likelihood of abandoned checkouts, ensuring a seamless payment experience.

According to Malick Bolakale, CEO of Startbutton, the company's mission extends beyond just facilitating payments; it aims to dominate the business expansion landscape in Africa. Competing with established players like DLocal and Julaya, Startbutton differentiates itself by effectively managing compliance and regulatory challenges, thus streamlining market entry for its clients. With a current processing volume of $5 million monthly, the company anticipates an additional $2 million in revenue as a result of its expansion into Francophone countries.

Startbutton is already licensed to operate in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, positioning itself as a key player in Africa's business expansion infrastructure. With its innovative solutions and commitment to easing market entry, Startbutton is poised to transform the landscape for startups and foreign businesses looking to establish a presence in Francophone Africa.

As Startbutton accelerates its operations in the region, it sends a clear message: Francophone Africa, buckle up—Startbutton just hit "go!"
