Vodafone, Google Sign 10-Year Deal to Boost AI and Cybersecurity

21 Oct 2024

Vodafone and Google have announced the expansion of their partnership through a new ten-year deal aimed at delivering advanced AI, cloud, and cybersecurity services to millions of Vodafone’s customers across Europe and Africa. This collaboration, which builds on their existing relationship, is set to provide enhanced services, innovative devices, and improved TV experiences, all powered by Google Cloud and its Gemini AI models.

The agreement will extend these benefits to Vodafone customers in 15 countries and to its partners in 45 additional markets worldwide. Google will leverage Vodafone’s fixed and mobile connectivity services to boost productivity across its workforce.

Speaking on the expanded partnership, Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group CEO, highlighted the transformative impact of the collaboration: “Together, Vodafone and Google will put new AI-powered content and devices into the hands of millions more consumers. These services will open up new opportunities for our customers to learn, create, communicate, and experience TV in ways we’ve never seen before.”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai echoed this enthusiasm: “Our expanded partnership with Vodafone will help bring our most advanced AI products and services, including the Gemini models, to more people across Europe and Africa. I’m excited to see how Vodafone’s customers, small businesses, and governments will use generative AI and Google Cloud to revolutionize how they work and access information.”

As part of this collaboration, Vodafone will adopt Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform to streamline the development and deployment of AI applications. This will enable Vodafone’s teams in various countries to innovate faster and roll out new products more efficiently, all powered by Google’s cutting-edge Gemini AI models.

In addition to AI and cloud solutions, Vodafone will introduce enhanced cybersecurity services for its business customers. Leveraging Google Cloud’s Security Operations platform, Vodafone is working to develop a new cloud-native cybersecurity solution that offers comprehensive protection, including security incident and event management tools. This partnership aims to ensure that new products and services developed by Vodafone are secure from the ground up, safeguarding customers online.

Through this strengthened collaboration, both companies are set to accelerate the digital transformation of Vodafone’s customers, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
