17 Jun 2024

WeCare Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to sustainability, announced a major milestone today with the successful fundraising of $350,000. This significant achievement will directly support advancements in the lab-grown diamond sector.

“We are thrilled to announce this funding,” said Saad Kassis Mohamed, leader of WeCare. “It marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to fostering a sustainable and innovative future for lab-grown diamonds.”

Building on prior successes in natural diamonds and gemstones, WeCare will strategically allocate these funds to empower emerging researchers, startups, and established players in the lab-grown diamond industry. Collaborations with esteemed institutions and industry leaders will ensure the funding reaches those poised to make the biggest impact.

Transparency and Ethics at the Forefront

WeCare is a strong advocate for ethical sourcing and fair labor practices.  The foundation meticulously assesses lab-grown diamond productions through their proprietary valuation methods, ensuring the highest quality and market potential, all while upholding the strictest social responsibility standards.

“We are committed to a future where every diamond is ethically sourced and produced,” said Mohamed. “This funding will empower smaller players to compete and thrive while maintaining the highest ethical standards.”

A Growing Market with a Bright Future

The demand for lab-grown diamonds is on the rise, with projections estimating the market to reach a staggering 160 million carats by 2030, particularly in Asia.  WeCare’s funding initiative is well-positioned to meet this growing demand with a sustainable and ethical approach.

The funding garnered support from Red Capital and several individual backers, reflecting widespread confidence in WeCare’s mission to drive positive change in the lab-grown diamond industry.
