Egyptian Healthtech Startup Almouneer Raises $3.6M to Tackle Diabetes and Obesity in Africa.

26 Apr 2024

Egyptian healthtech startup Almouneer has raised $3.6 million in seed funding to develop and scale its DRU app, a healthtech platform for lifestyle and diabetes management. The company is also considering expanding its product offerings into adjacent markets within Africa and the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Nigeria, and Kenya at the forefront of its plans.

DRU allows diabetic patients to upload their medical records, access their up-to-date medical information and current medication details, and connect with healthcare professionals via chat or phone calls. It is particularly valuable in regions like Africa and the Middle East, where the burden of diabetes is particularly significant.

"The DRU app is a unique and necessary innovation," said Noor Sweid, Founder and Managing Partner of Global Ventures, one of the investors in the seed round. "We are excited to work alongside Almouneer as they tackle a prevalent health issue across the Middle East and Africa."

Almouneer's app plays a vital role in preventing and managing diabetes, prediabetes, and obesity by connecting patients with doctors and an extensive network of healthcare providers. The company's mission is to become the lifelong companion of diabetic patients in the region.
