Google Opens Applications for 2025 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa Program
Google has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program, a three-month initiative tailored to support early-stage startups harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to address some of Africa’s most pressing challenges. This program aims to empower local innovators who are working to solve entrenched problems across the continent.
African startups are increasingly showcasing their ability to develop localized solutions that tackle specific challenges. For instance, in West Africa, Crop2Cash, an agritech platform and an alumnus of the program, is utilizing AI to digitally onboard smallholder farmers. The platform helps in building their financial identities, granting them access to credit, facilitating traceable payments, and providing productivity tools. Through such initiatives, Crop2Cash is not only improving agricultural outcomes but also unlocking economic opportunities for farmers historically left out of formal financial systems—demonstrating the impactful change that can occur when African startups are given the resources to scale.
The Accelerator program is specifically open to startups operating from Seed to Series A stages that are based in Africa and developing AI-first solutions. To qualify, startups must have:
